The Dreaded Doughnut HoleRecent articles have come out stating that many Medicare Part D recipients are hitting the doughnut hole much earlier than expected. We want to take this chance to remind you that you are most likely going to be better off buying your medications from Universal Drugstore once you reach the doughnut hole. Once you reach the doughnut hole you are 100% responsible for paying for all your medications at the much higher U.S. retail price. Unless you are going to come out of the doughnut hole (i.e. spending more that $5100 in 2006) and actually spend over $7000 on medications in 2006, you are better off buying the remainder of your 2006 medications at the much lower Canadian price. If you reach the doughnut hole and are not going to spend more than $7000 on your medications in 2006 you will, in the vast majority of cases, spend far fewer dollars buying your medicines at Universal Drugstore. To understand this better you may want to review the graph which compares the Medicare savings to the Universal Drugstore savings. |
